Ever since my lil man was born I have always sang to him. One song in particular is "You Are My Sunshine." I sing this song to him every day and several times a day at that. He now sings it with me.
Last night was the heart melts of all heart melts from him. I was getting him ready for bed after his bath. When we (I say "we" because it was a joint effort between lil man and myself) finished putting the lotion on and getting his jammies on he stood up so I could comb his hair. He waited patiently for his turn with the comb to, as I call it, "perfect it".
When he was done perfecting, he leaned in and said "sunshine." He wanted me to sing "You Are My Sunshine" to him. Like a good mother I obliged and sang away. All the while he sang with me. Of course, he is more like a back-up singer because he sings key words. For instance, when I sing the verse "you are my sunshine" he knows when sunshine is about to happen and will sing it. He does this throughout the song.
Melts my heart I tell ya! What melted my heart even more last night - didn't think that was possible but apparently it is! - was when we would finish singing it he would say, "again." We must of sang it 10 times all while hugging each other. It was fantastic. One of the best moments with him! Definitely a moment I will cherish for the rest of my life!
This was one of those times I wish I was on reality television so a moment like this could be captured forever. I know it is captured in my heart forever, but to see it played out would be nice too! LOL!

I sang that song to my daughter too. I saw somewhere and I need to find it again where you can order blankets and have them embroider a saying along the edges. I want to put the lyrics to that song on it. :)
Ah, that is so sweet. I sing that song to my Daisy too!
A blanket would be so cool! I need to look into that! Thanks for the idea:)
I think this is a song that every mother sings to their child. Though, it never grows old or redundant and always rings true.
